Skid Resistance Analysis of Urban Bike Lane Pavements for Safe Micromobility

The use of micromobility vehicles is considerably growing in cities worldwide. As a result, crashes involving these are also increasing, with single-bicycle accounting for significant percentage. In most infrastructure-related crashes, the road surface was slippery. this context, study pavement skid resistance crucial to improve safety. research, British pendulum tester used test 5 different types pavements on 17 bike lane locations Valencia (Spain). Additionally, users’ speed collected analyse behaviour. results showed that asphalt, concrete, and rough painted tile had greatest resistance, whereas cobble smooth presented poor resistance. These values were compared limits set by few guidelines includes thresholds. Moreover, variability studied, asphalt being homogeneous. Based several recommendations proposed be facility according its typology. To end, investigatory level minimum braking distance required defined each type lane. findings contribute consideration safety from construction stage management.
